Its May 23rd – Universe Day & I am proud to say that we have a new release available from one of our fellow Apes!

First in a series of archival releases on Electric Mountain Music Club, we have the “Space Cold” / “7″ (digi 7″) from Jason Michel. These two pieces represent some of his earliest solo recorded work, captured sometime around the mid 90′s. These solo works can fall into basically two categories: rhythm based and texture based. Both are represented here.

“Space Cold” is a minimal, beat based track which tells the story of NASA astronaut Wally Schirra’s first cold in space. Just a nifty little ditty.

On the flip-side is “7″, inspired by free jazz and the ritual music of various pacific rim cultures, this is an early example of his attempts to alter perception of time and space through sound. We hope you dig it.

This looks pretty cool! I really hope that this can come to fruition. Even though Amazon bought & killed TouchCo, touch-screen tech is becoming more & more commonplace, hopefully there can be some licensing put into place for an iPad or Android tablet… read more on The LinnStrument here.

Roger Linn has helped to shape the face of modern music just as much as Bob Moog & Les Paul. To be honest, I can’t even imagine modern music w/out the contributions of the sampling drum machine. In the past 30 years, he has been behind the designs of these units:

Linn LM-1 [1980]

LinnDrum [1982]

Linn 9000 [1984]

MPC60 [1988]

MPC60II [1991]

MPC3000 [1994]
